Location – Downtown Vegas’ most acclaimed hotel can be found right in the center of the Fremont Street Experience, across the street from Binion’s.

The Theme – Opened in 1946, The Golden Nugget has the honor of being one of the oldest standing hotels on the strip, yet it does not feel dated. It has that opulent elegance we know the rat pack loved, with all the modern bells and whistles to make it comfortable in this age. Keep your eyes peeled for those small details that allude to the resort’s racy past.

Rooms – Being downtown has its advantages, especially when it comes to price. The Golden Nugget is in the affordable range in terms of rooms, especially if you book a standard. The newly renovated Gold Tower has recently been renovated, giving you more creature comforts without a big boost to the price tag.

Restaurants – There is no shortage of fine dining options inside of the Golden Nugget, where any type of appetite is easily sated. Choose from an array of restaurants that are all high quality at a reasonable price.

  • Vic & Anthony’s – The second venture for the chain is equally appealing, highlighting unique appetizers, fresh seafood and of course their world class steaks.

  • Chart House – The beef and fish are delish, but nothing compared to the spectacular view of the 75,000 gallon home to swarms of tropical fish.

  • Grotto – You’ll find the homemade pizzas and pastas especially divine as you dine in this homey restaurant overlooking the shark tank.

  • Lillie’s Asian Cuisine – Spread out at the Hibachi table and make new friends over an exciting array of Pan-Asian specialty dishes.

  • Red Sushi – Traditional Japanese fare is served in a contemporary setting, including a tempting selection of sake and beer.

  • Cadillac Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar – Embark on an adventure you just might forget, starting with a menu of over 70 boutique tequilas.

  • Claim Jumper – Real American comfort food takes you back to the wild west, and includes homey favorites like pot pies and baby back ribs.

  • The Grille – A quick stop for burgers and fries is sometimes all the fuel you need before seeing what the rest of Fremont Street has to offer.

A fully stocked buffet, Starbucks Café, and hospitable room service perfectly round out your dining experience choices inside the Golden Nugget.

Gambling – If you are in Vegas for serious gambling, then the Golden Nugget is your ticket. Winner of multiple gaming awards, the spacious casino and sports book boasts some of the biggest payouts on and off the strip.

Shows – One of the best free shows in Vegas is right outside the door with the Fremont Street Experience, but inside the Golden Nugget you can see the incredible talent of Gordie Brown. Watch Brown perform his spot on impression of Sly Stallone before doing an about face into the King. Don’t forget to check out the 52 Fridays Concert Series in the same theater, where one never knows what iconic singer may make an appearance.

Clubs and Bars – Signature bars and lounges are a specialty at the Golden Nugget, with each one exhibiting its own unique style. Gold Diggers blends cocktails and live music for a lively dance club vibe, while down at Claude’s the relaxing atmosphere is ideal for small talk over video poker.

The Day Club – Choose to Hideout at the Golden Nugget at the peak of their stellar pool complex. This is not a rambunctious day club, but it is a secluded paradise devoted to pampering adults. Once you lay your head back in a plush poolside cabana, you’ll forget all about DJ what’s his name spinning further up the strip.

Shopping – The Golden Nugget is home to four specialty shops, where you can pick up a box of sinful sweets, a golden treat or some new threads on your way up to your hotel room.

Other Cool Stuff – The theme may be gold toned, but the stand out attraction is water – shark infested water. The Golden Nugget is home to the only pool in Vegas where you are literally swimming with the sharks. Or at least in a pool next to a tank where the sharks swim. Still, that’s pretty darn close for comfort, and a plunge you have to take.

Worth the Stay – Downtown Vegas has really cleaned up its act, giving uptown locales are real run for the money. The Golden Nugget may be a golden oldie, but it has 24 k features and attractions, without a 24 K price tag.
