In With the New: What's Happening in Vegas for New Year's Eve
It might seem a little soon to consider, but if you have dreams of watching 2015 roll in from sin city you better start making your plans early. New Years Eve is one of the biggest events in Vegas, bringing in people from every corner of the globe. If you want to make sure that you ring your new year in in style, take a look at some of the happenings and start making your reservations early.
To welcome in 2014, there was an estimated 320,000 visitors scattered all around Vegas. The four mile Vegas strip is a honed down version of Times Square, New York, with the streets being shut down to motorists after 6 P.M. This is a huge party zone outside despite the chilly temps. If you want to get kissed at midnight indoors, get inside by 11. Most of the hotels lock down at this time and won’t reopen their doors until after midnight.
You can also head down to Fremont St. if you like a bit more raunch with your revelry. Fremont St. is an open party zone all night long on December 31st. This year there is expected to be a 9 hour concert event played out on 3 different stages at the Fremont Street Experience. This is a 21 year old+ only event so leave the young’uns back at the ranch.
One of the most anticipated events slated to help say goodbye to 2014 is the Snoopadelic Cabaret. This 1920’s throwback is hosted by hip hop legend Snoop Dogg, or DJ Snoopadelic as he goes by at these events, at the TAO nightclub starting at 9 P.M on New Year’s Eve. What better way to ring out the old then surrounded by sexy flapper servers at your own VIP table.
Rumor has it that Miss Britney is going to perform a New Year’s Eve show from the Axis theater at Planet Hollywood. Britney has been performing her “A Piece of Me” show in the arena all year and part of her stint includes an end of the year performance. Her most recent public break-up hasn’t caused any hair shaving issues this time as she was telling a Vegas crowd recently that now she gets to go on more first dates. Way to grow up girl!
So far, 7 major Vegas hotels have signed on to shoot fireworks from their rooftops. There is hardly a place in Vegas where you won’t get to see this spectacle unless you are locked in a bathroom. More than 80,000 firework explosions are expected to flood the Vegas sky for over 8 minutes. You can try and secure a spot on top of the Mandalay Bay inside of the miX Lounge, or you can hang out like the rest of us on the top floor of a parking garage.
Vegas and New Years is like peanut butter and jelly, they just fit. Just be sure that you make your plans early if you don’t want to end up sleeping on a bench. Your Vegaster App can help you get the 411 you need on the best places to stay and play to bring in 2015 the Vegas way.
