Visiting Vegas Over 50

With its world famous nightclub scene, and larger than pool parties, Vegas could give the misconception of catering to the younger crowd. This could not be further from the truth. Being 50 is fabulous, and no place in the world proves that better than Las Vegas does. Forget about spending countless hours at the slot machines, hit that strip and show those kids how to really appreciate the unique flair of Las Vegas.

Dinner and a Show

For a Vegas-like night without a college crowd to contend with, the place to go is Rose. Rabbit. Lie. Located inside of the chic Cosmopolitan, this throwback to the supper club is sophisticated entertainment combined with first rate food and drinks. The restaurant is in the library, where you can dine on oysters Rockefeller, fried chicken skins and stuffed lobster with whole crab. Small, elegant dishes that are meant to be shared in an eccentric, yet completely comfortable atmosphere.

As you dine you will be treated to glimpses of the performers as they wander in and out of the dining room. There are four rooms in total that make up Rose. Rabbit. Lie, and you are encouraged to wander through them as well. After supper, sidle up to the bar in the study for your favorite mixed drink before making your way to Vegas Nocturne. This ticketed vaudeville show is just on the right side of raunchy, where you can laugh out loud without blushing too much.

Feeling Like Live Music?

Ms. Britney is not the only live act in town. Vegas is a music lover’s utopia for all ages with headliners like Diana Ross and Elton John in April, Santana in May and Rod Stewart in August. There are also a few tribute acts that will transform you back in time. Stop by the Rio Crown Theater to see the Rat Pack, or the V Theatre for some old school Motown. When a fabulous 50-something wants live music to sing along with, they look to the stages in Vegas.

Or You Can Lay Back and Relax

In Las Vegas, everything is 5 star, over the top indulgence, especially at the spas. In between your supper clubs and live shows make sure you leave plenty of time to be pampered. There are luxurious spas in all the big hotels, but for utter bliss and relaxation you have to unwind at the Bellagio. Located on the second floor of the hotel, the simply named Spa Bellagio is understated elegance that helps to calm the mind and rejuvenate the body. Lie back for a deep massage, submerge in a hot tub, and then top off your visit in a body cleansing dry sauna.

Why leave such a vibrant city for just the kids to frolic in? The heart of Las Vegas is sophistication, with a twist of naughty. This is the type of diversion that only seasoned adults really know how to appreciate.
