Traversing the Strip After the Sun Goes Down

You made it from dawn to dusk, taking in all the sights, eating the best foods and indulging in some wild cocktails all before dark. Now it’s time to really kick things into high gear, as the strip turns from day to night.

What’s For Dinner?

With its long list of award winning restaurants, it only makes sense to walk over to the Wynn for a dining experience you’ll never forget. There’s plenty of casual places to soothe your stomach, but if you’re going to the Wynn for dinner, it should be all in. And that means Costa di Mare. We can’t divulge much about the menu since acclaimed chef Mark LoRusso creates it nightly based on the fresh fish that was flown in that day. What we can tell you is that the combination of homemade pastas and fresh seafood will make your mouth think it has died and gone to culinary heaven. Book a private cabana in advance, and partake in your scrumptious supper while looking out over the Wynn’s calming lagoon.

After a meal like that, it’s okay if you want to splurge on a limo to hide the fact that you can’t button your new pants. Tell the Uber driver to bring you to the Mirage, which is just far away enough to give you time to stick your head out the sunroof and scream “Vegas Baby!” (But really, please don’t do that) You may however want to scream “Cuba Baby” after a getting your first sip of a mojito inside Rhumbar. But don’t stay inside, step out onto the patio and light up a stogie to go with that drink.

Take an extra few minutes before your next stop to bask in the glow of Vegas’ only volcano. The best seats for this show are right outside the Mirage, where you can hear the original score, and watch as fireballs make their way 12 feet into the air before diving into a delicious dessert.

Dessert and a Show

Caesar’s Palace is home to the Guinness World Record holding Golden Opulence Sundae, although you don’t need to drop the dough on this 24 karat gold ice cream to indulge in pure decadence. The deep fried Oreo Sundae can also do the trick at a fraction of the cost, or try a slice of creamy cheesecake if you don’t really scream for ice cream.

Since you’re already at Caesar’s you may as well make the most of it and take in Absinthe, an adult circus that takes place every night in the big top at the Roman Plaza. Poking fun at some of the tawdrier aspects of the entertainment business, this variety show is hilarious, sexy and thrilling all thrown together.

We won’t lie and say that you’re not going to be beat after your traverse around the strip, but we tell you that it will be well worth it. Food, drink, and frolic aside, the sights and sounds as you cross back and forth, going up and down are like nothing else in the world.
