The Stratosphere – The Largest Destination off the Strip
One cannot envision the Vegas skyline with the Stratosphere standing tall and proud. At 1,149 feet tall, it is the tallest structure in Vegas and the entire state. Yet being that tall is not the only thing this resort has going for it. Thanks to its unique structure and size, the Stratosphere is the tallest playground in Vegas.
Starting at the Top
The 108th level of the Stratosphere is where all the action lies, boasting four knuckle whitening rides on what feels like the top of the world. First is the Sky Jump, a plunge of 855 feet. Big Shot is a big blast out into midair, while the X Scream leaves you hanging out there for a sec so you can appreciate it how small you really are in the world. The last is Insanity, because it’s not enough to suspend 900 ft in the air, you need to be spun around out there too.
There’s a bar on that level too, but you can also go down a level and chill in the 107 Lounge. Live music, an excellent view, and the occasional Sky Jumper make for a very unique experience.
Hungry? Then dine at Top of the World, where a rotating floor gives you a 360 degree picture of the entire Vegas landscape. If you are afraid that might make you skysick as you eat, there are a number of other restaurants inside of the Stratosphere that will only make you dizzy with their great entrees and ambience.
How About a Show With That Dinner
Stratosphere is home to the L.A. Comedy Club, showcasing hilarious talent every night. Or head over to Images, a no cover bar and dance club that features live music every night. If you want a show-show, the Stratosphere has two; MJ Live, which is a musical tribute to Michael Jackson or Pin Up: The Art of Sexy Revealed. Pin Up stars a real life former Playboy Playmate (from back when they were still taking off their clothes) Claire Sinclair in this sexy romp of pin up calendar girls.
And For Day Time Fun in the Sun
Radius Rooftop Pool & Wet Lounge is your pool party in the sky. During the off season it is available as just another Vegas pool, but once beach season begins the heat is on. DJs like DJ Mac, DJ Corona and Liz Clark all make appearances poolside to help get the pool party started.
The Stratosphere Casino
All of this sits on top of one of Vegas’ most impressive casino floors. Over 800 of the latest slot machines are there to tempt along with 42 gaming tables that have limits as low as $5. Of course if a hand of cards is more your speed you can always visit the Poker Room where there are no limit tournaments being held all of the time.
Officially off the strip, the Stratosphere makes up for the trip with its larger than life attractions, restaurants and views. Stop by and be taken to new heights on your next Vegas trip.
