8 of the Best Dishes Being Served Up in Vegas
Never being able to resist a challenge, the Vegaster culinary crew (a couple of hungry guys) went on a mission to find those stand out plates in 8 of our favorite restaurants:
Mastro’s Ocean Club – A treasure trove of fresh seafood can be found inside of Mastro’s Ocean Club. This elegant restaurant can be found inside of Crystals at City Center, and features private dining rooms, a main dining room, and seating on the terrace, where the sounds of a piano accompany your meal. A meal, which in our humble opinion, should be started by our favorite vanilla battered shrimp.
Holstein’s Shakes and Buns – Cartoon cow caricatures line the walls of this burger concept, offering a completely different style than what you’d expect at the Cosmopolitan. Yet it works, because wrapped inside those buns are quality ingredients like Kobe beef and seared salmon. Or even Greek spiced lamb, like with our favorite “Big Fat Greek” sandwich.
Bucchanal Buffet – It’s almost impossible to list favorite dishes in Vegas without touching upon at least one buffet, and at Caesar’s, it’s a spread fit for the Gods. Newly renovated a few years back, this is now an award-winning buffet with thousands of fresh items to choose from. But if it was up to us, we would just pile on plate after plate of those red velvet pancakes.
II Mulino New York – The quiet elegance of II Mulino fits right in with Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops. This world class restaurant offers diners a stunning view of the strip and an exquisite array of Italian fare. For a light lunch, we could not get enough of the authentic minestrone soup and classic Caesar salad.
Bouchon – The Venetian is home to this classic French restaurant, run by world-renowned chef Thomas Keller. His skills shine through in every exquisite dish, from the scrumptious appetizers to the airy desserts. We went all out Frenchie, and found a favorite in the escargot smothered in parsley garlic butter.
Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak – The Top Chef judge raised eyebrows with his tipping policies, but this has nothing to do with his skills at cooking steak. Using only the finest ingredients and simple cooking techniques, your steak is juicy and bursting with flavor. The dry aged prime N.Y. strip caught our eye, and when it hit the lips it was pure heaven.
Grand Lux Café – The feel is a European café, but the tastes encompass the whole world. The Grand Lux Café has a menu chock full of savory surprises to tease your taste buds. Travel to Poland for some homemade pierogis, or head south of the border for flaky empanadas. We chose Korea as our favorite destination, with their beef and scallion pancakes.
Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak & Stone Crab – The Forum Shops have been home to Joe’s for over a decade, yet the taste and atmosphere never grows old. From cheeseburgers to rib eyes, with seafood and chicken in between, there is something to make the mouth happy for everyone. If you can’t choose, do as we do, and get a succulent filet mignon served alongside your crab legs.
You can’t go wrong with any of the food at any of these Vegas restaurants, but if you’re stuck on what to eat, we hope that our picks help to tip the scales. Remember to grab your reservations right on the app!
