Vegas may have to wait another 2 years for the City of Rock to pop again, but Sin City was rocking long before Rock n’ Rio came to town. Scattered about the strip are 7 spots where rock n’ roll will never die, or make us wait for it.
Raiding the Rock Vault – Get out the hairspray and leather pants because you are about to enter the ‘80’s rock scene. Raiding the Rock Vault at the Tropicana is a two hour musical, hitting on all of the high points in rock, starting in the ‘60’s. An array of talented musicians from the rock era form the band, ripping out classics from The Stones, Who, Jimi Hendrix and more.
Rock of Ages – A classic rock opera, Rock of Ages is the story of two young kids trying to become big names and fall in love on 1987’s Sunset Strip. 28 classic rock anthems take you back in time, to when hair was huge and guitars screeched. True rock fans won’t be able to miss the subtle pokes at “Don’t Stop Believing” as they are moved along this musical journey put on at the Venetian.
Rockhouse – The Venetian is home to the self acclaimed best dive bar in Vegas, adding a rock and roll edge to the typically pristine hotel bars. This is a get down and party bar, complete with a list of drinking games and a barely clad staff of beauties to take care of your every drinking whim. PBR Rockbar – Front and center inside of Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops, PBR Rockbar is a splendid combination of rock n’ roll hooking up with country. There’s a distinctly southern style menu, with a rockin’ kick like Dorito Mac & Cheese. This is a huge locale with something for every rockin’ cowboy and girl, right down to the mechanical bull taking up center stage.
Pizza Rock – Yes, there is a World Pizza Cup, and the 11 time champion has brought his brilliant dough making skills to Vegas. Pizza Rock is an exploration of the senses, taking the highest quality ingredients and turning them into a mouth watering masterpiece. Stick around after your pie for an energetic nighttime experience complete with DJs spinning dance music from an electrifying sound system.
Rock & Roll Marathon – For the sixth year in a row, over 20,000 marathon runners of all shapes and sizes will take over the strip. The Rock & Roll Marathon takes place in the early evening, with the neon lights aglow to guide their way. If you’re not feeling up to the 26 + mile race, you can sign up for the 1/2of the Half Marathon which starts at the Mandalay and leaves you breathless inside of downtown’s Container Park.
Hard Rock Hotel –You have your classy hotels on the strip, where you feel like pushing the elevator up button will get you in trouble. And then there is HRH. A hip, rock-themed, round the clock party, this is the hotel to book when your goal is to get into some Vegas mischief. The hotel is full of energetic and rockin’ bars, and in the summer home to Vegas’ first and raunchiest pool party.
