5 Unique Ways to Spend the Day in Las Vegas
You have to pull yourself away from the slot machines once in a while to see what else is going on in Sin City. You know there is a kick booty nightclub scene, but do you have a clue that there are fun things to do during the day? And since it is Vegas, there of course has to be attractions that take entertainment to a whole new stratosphere. So cash in your chips (if you have any left) and check out one or all of these innovative venues.
The Mob Museum: Where else can you hear actual wire tapped recordings of real dead hit men talking about their latest job? The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement is a non-profit venue that enlightens us about the history of the original American gangsters. With its use of interactive exhibits you not only get a glimpse into the life and times of the most infamous mobsters, you are also treated to the FBI side of the coin, and how they eventually brought the whole culture to its knees.
Vegas Indoor Skydiving: If you are looking for some adventure, then jump inside the vertical wind tunnel and fly away. Well, not too far since you are inside. This Vegas favorite is a unique way to learn the skills involved, and get the thrill of skydiving without actually jumping from a plane. Sounds like this is more for the half-adventurous. Maybe so, but it’s still a fun diversion from Black Jack.
The Wildlife Habitat at Flamingo: You may think you saw enough wildlife at the club last night, but this free exhibit offers you the more serene variety. Of course it features the hotel's namesake, but you are also treated to an up close and personal look at pelicans, turtles, swans and many other species as you walk through this beautiful island setting complete with waterfalls.
CSI: The Experience: Your favorite T.V. Drama comes to life and you get to take part in solving a murder mystery using forensic science. Work alongside CSI Nick Stokes, (not really, but a video of him) to examine bullet casings for evidence. The MGM Grand has taken the antiquated murder mystery dinner and turned it around into an unforgettable hands-on experience.
Miracle Mile Shops: Maybe not so unique, but Planet Hollywood’s extreme version of the American shopping mall is the perfect place to just hang out during the day. Browse through the 170 high end stores before stopping for lunch in one of its 15 restaurants. There is even a 50 foot high water fountain show to enjoy that plays every hour on the hour all day long.
Whatever it is that will get you motivated to get out and explore, Vegas has it. And you won’t have to go far to find it. There are thousands of things to do day and night that will make your next trip to the strip a unique one.
